Gap Personnel TV news feed

A TV news feed is a great way of keeping your potential customers, clients and employees up to date with company news and the general industry. In fact, there are hundreds of ways to utilise this very effective (and affordable) form of communication.

Gap Personnel are industrial recruitment specialists. I do a monthly TV news update for their intranet - to keep their huge workforce informed of the latest company news.

Station Imaging for UKRD Radio Group

Here are a few examples of my radio station voiceovers for UKRD.

All done in my fab little studio. The great thing about technology these days is that you can create broadcast quality sound using your own kit. Gone are the days when audio has to be produced in big, expensive studios...although they do help sometimes :)

Barratt Homes

They say in television, never work with animals or children! But the effectiveness of this video shows how using kids (and me!) can provide an engaging edge to a usually conventional subject.

Barratt Homes in Nuneaton wanted to raise awareness about their Discovery House - a show home promoting sustainabilty. Using me as the presenter, with a combination of piece to cameras and voice over (as well as interacting with the children who came to visit during a school trip) brought the whole campaign to life.

Not all fat is bad

So I now have a proper voiceover studio!! After a year of travelling around, I have finally found a lovely space. It will make such a difference.

Big jobs coming up this month (April 2012) with Iceni TV and Premier Range. I'll be doing my first TV commercial for them soon. I'm also hosting an event in Sheffield which will be so much fun. I like doing live stuff, especially awards ceremonies where people get rewarded for their hard work.

So here's something for you...

I've living and breathing the advice Angus has given me over the past month and am feeling really good. I'm drinking much more water which is making such a difference - especially with my skin. The next video will be showing you how to MAKE raw chocolate. It's very easy and very satisfying!

Smoothie talking :)

It's episode 2 of The Juice!

This week, we discuss juices and smoothies and what you can add to them to give you vitality, energy and youthfulness.

I've also been filming again for Premier Range in Yorkshire. The next thing is a TV advert which will hopefully be filmed in April. Ha. Love it.

Juicy gossip

This week, I started doing station imaging for the UKRD group (basically I'm one of the voices you hear in between the songs saying things like "This is Star Radio"). Really pleased to be doing this kind of voicing - and Colin McGiness, the PD is good to work for. The great thing is that I can do it all from home - using some fabulous kit that was sent to me from Editors Keys. I am truly blessed - and thank the Universe every day.

Bikram Yoga wise - the new studio in Bournemouth is great. I'm living down here at the moment and come up to the Midlands when I need to. When I was in Australia, I realised that I love living by the sea so it was something that went on my list. I've been teaching here a lot which has been so enjoyable. I learn so much about people from teaching them yoga - and I learn so much about yoga when I teach. Some days, just staying in the hot room is a challenge in itself - and that is yoga too. It's not just about creating perfect postures with your body, yoga is about doing what you can do that day and accepting it. Like life really.

I've also been totally immersing myself with the Juice Lounge next door - which is a superfood haven. I am now creating a weekly web TV show called 'The Juice'. Here's episode 1 - all about raw chocolate.

Be happy and wonderful :)

You are what you eat

It's been a month since I got back from Australia - time has flown! I am now in Bournemouth, checking out the yoga scene. I've spent the past week at Bikram Yoga in Boscombe. The students are amazing here and we have a juice bar next door - my perfect combination. I've been learning so much from Angus Miller - a raw food expert, who owns The Juice Lounge. For the past week I haven't eaten refined sugar at all and I feel fabulous. This doesn't mean I'm not allowing myself sweet things - I have been eating copius amounts of raw chocolate instead...which is full of goodness and is so rich, it satisfies the craving quickly and without that 'sugar high and then low' you experience with normal chocolate. I am so interested in the way food effects our behaviour, mood and our physical shape. Angus is a complete book of knowledge in this area. You come out of yoga, go to his counter and he asks you, "how would you like to feel" - and then makes you something amazing and healthy to create that feeling. Well, as they say 'you are what you eat'. Here he is talking about sugar - very interesting.

In terms of media stuff - it's great. Lots of voiceover and a whole heap of web video bits coming soon. I am totally blessed.

My Queenstown adventure

I went to New Zealand for a week to teach some yoga. Everyone told me how beautiful Queenstown was so I decided to hire a car and check it out. I cried when I got there, it was so breath taking. It is probably one of the most picturesque places I have been to. Here's how I got on. Excuse the shaky filming in parts - now I know how important a tripod is!

I come back to the UK on Thursday (9th Feb) so I'll be open for business next week! Already filming on Monday and Tuesday in Yorkshire for a cooker company. It's seriously cold in England by all accounts so I need to make the most of the beach whilst I'm in Sydney. Talking of which...

Spinning around...almost home time

I filmed and edited this promo for Vicious Cycle, a spin studio in Bondi Beach (Australia). It turned out very well! Now thinking of getting a pro mic so the sound is better for future productions.

Let me know if you want one for your business. I'll be back in the UK from 8th February 2012! Bracing myself for the snow. I've been used to the Aussie summer so it'll be a real shock to the system! Can't wait to start a fresh year. Excited about my life...and yours! x

My secret Coke addiction

This week I have sweat more than I have in a long time - and I’m also drinking FULL FAT Coke. Now, girls will understand that this is usually something to avoid due to its ‘empty calorie’ content but actually it is like nectar. I love it!

I’m at an advanced yoga seminar with Bikram Choudary. Yes, he is the man responsible for Bikram Yoga across the world. I’ve been a Bikram Yoga teacher now since 2009 and it is so amazing to reconnect with my Guru. However, it is grueling. We are basically doing hot yoga for 5 hours a day. Yes, lots of sweat and I felt like I was dying towards the end of class but a nice cold Coca Cola (as well as coconut water and bananas) helps so much. And the rest of the day, I’ve been on a feeding frenzy. I have a whole week of this so I’m just trying to fuel my body as much as possible. It may sound crazy but I am LOVING it.

So yes, aside from my media work I am a yoga teacher. I discovered Bikram Yoga in Chiswick, London when I was working for Bid TV. I never thought I’d end up teaching it but yoga became such a big part of my routine, I felt like teaching it was the next step.

Why is yoga so great? It is the only exercise in the world where it is all about YOU. I’m not just talking about the way it makes you look physically (weight loss, toning etc), although this is a by-product. Yoga, over time will help you to peel off the layers of conditioning and emotions that we allow to attach to us over the years. By practising yoga, you start to realise your true self (that person that you feel inside) and stop being a victim. This is because it helps to connect your mind and body. When your mind and body are healthy, it removes the obstacles that prevent you from connecting with your true self (some call it spirit). Healthy mind, healthy body, healthy spirit. OK - enough of the preaching!

The reason I love Bikram Yoga so much is that you get to a point of stillness very quickly. By the end of class, you have worked so hard that you will just want to lie still and enjoy the peace. Most of us are so busy, thinking about the future and the past that we forget that the only time we really have is the present moment. Stress only comes by thinking about the future or the past.

So for the past few months I’ve been in Sydney teaching yoga as I felt that it was something I needed to explore more. It’s been amazing. I’ve also started up the Vegan Fast Food channel on YouTube with my yoga buddy Simon. We are really into making tasty food for vegans and exploring Vegan restaurants. It has been so much fun to produce.

I’m heading back to the UK next month. It’ll be sad to leave Australia as it has been incredible. However I have some work lined up when I get back that I am also looking forward to - voiceover and presenting. Bring it on.

Please have a look at the Vegan Fast Food channel!
